What should we do for our 20th anniversary?

We both love travel, but we don't want to go overseas & waste days recovering from jet-lag (been there, did that 10 years ago.) We loved Vegas, had fun in Miami, and think New York rocks. But we've been to all those places. Spent time snorkeling in the Caymans. Been to the mountains, and the beach. We're looking for the next great "wow" factor place. The idea of spending time in the room having s*x ended years ago. We want to remember how much fun we both are. (We got looks when we had fun at Coyote Ugly. I guess we're too old?) Give us some ideas. Both of our kids are in the military, so family party is out of the question if they can't be there. Any ideas out there?

  1. Just tossing out a few ideas:

**Combine a visit to San Francisco with a stay in Napa or Sonoma Valley.  You can enjoy strolling around the city, riding the cable car, and walking across the Golden Gate Bridge.  Then visit the beautiful wine countryside.  Stay at a little B&B and visit both valleys. Bring a few bottles home as souvenirs.

**You didn't mention the Grand Canyon, but it's a sight not to be missed.  You could combine w/ a spa visit near Phoenix, or a horseback ride through the desert.

**Take a cruise to Alaska -- a once in a lifetime trip

**Drive through the Banff region in Canada.  The scenery is dramatic and there are great hotels along the way.

    **Ride scooters across Bermuda.

** I know you said no overseas, but you could fly to England and ride the Queen Victoria back to NY.  That gives you ample time to recover the jet lag in style on the ship.  And again, very memorable.

Happy travels, and congrats on your anniversary!  We celebrated our 10th anniversary in 2007.  I was on business in London, so we took a side trip to Wales.  Now we've been to England, Scotland, and Wales, so just Northern Ireland left...

  2. Go to Puerto Rico. No jet lag, no need for a passport, nice weather, a very different culture but still the same country, beautiful places, nice hotels.
