What should we do for our 9Th year wedding anniversary Sept 5Th?

I want to keep it local and perhaps a gift. We just had our 1st child . I was thinking taking her out to a good restaurant ( any ideas ) and letting Grandma watch our child and we could spend the night on the town and sleep in a hotel. As for the gift perhaps an upgraded phone?

First of all, I would NOT take her a chain restaurant!  ;)    If you can reveal your area, we can find you a good restaurant.  Something unique and special that you wouldn't patronize any old day.  Restaurant reviews are all over the web.  The rest of the idea is nice, with time on the town and a quiet night, just the two of you.  Unless she's really into gadgets, I wouldn't upgrade the phone as a gift, more simply because she needs a new one.  An anniversary gift should be something from the heart and something to spoil her.  Jewelry, her favorite perfume, something she would consider an indulgence to let her know that she's appreciated, especially with a new baby at home.  Congrats!

Why not keep it in the theme of a 9th anniversary (pottery or willow were the traditional gifts - the modern being leather).  

I do not personally think of a phone upgrade as a good gift.  If this is something she needs then it should be something she gets - but not as a gift - she should get it herself as a necessity - like clothing - not from you as a thankyou for being my wife!  A gift should be something special and one-off for that special occassion.

I do like the idea of taking her to dinner and having a romantic evening together.  Find an upperclass restaurant nearby that have her favourite types of food.  Maybe you can buy her a pretty leather handbag or purse to take with her to dinner...

I like the idea of taking her out to a nice restaurant ( Olive Garden or Outback Steakhouse)  You should pick somewhere that your not able to go to all the time, or a place that she really enjoys.  Where ever you go, make it romantic.  Staying in town at a hotel maybe with a jacuzzi in the room would be nice.  Ask yourself, would she really like a upgrade on her phone?  Or would she like______?  She's your wife of 9 years, you should know what she likes and wants.
