Zimbabwe is not a safe place to live. What should we do with those refugees here who were to be deported back there?

  1. let the other nations of Africa offer to take them in, until someone with b-lls takes out that despot Mugabe, we can help with aid, but there's no room at the inn, in Britain

  2. How about sending them to South Africa or one of the many safe countries they should have claimed asylum in?

Africa needs to be responsible for it's own rulers, Zimbabwe should be a wealthy state if governed well.

So as a UK taxpayer I am feed up paying for issues that are not mine. The country has been independent nearly 60 years, so there is no responsibility as it was once part of the Empire.

Are the old Soviet states or the far east in similar messes like Africa?

Someone talked about our duty - what about Africas duty?

  3. You are very welcome to keep them.

  4. I am not in favour of the existing immigration strategy as I see it as a charter for freeloaders and potential terrorists to take advantage of. However you question raises moral rather than financial or ethical issues. I would not find myself able to deport anybody to Zimbabwe, except perhaps some members of the current Government - or the next for that matter. Well done for a good question.

  5. eat them!!! no...perhaps not. send em off to scotland. lots of empty space.

  6. Make them pick litter and things - like is always suggested for "white British unemployed spongers". (Copyright: THE DAILY MAIL).

  7. we colonised that country and used its resources therefore it is our problem, we should be the first to help.  Shame theres no oil there else this wouldnt be a question and politicians would intervene!

  8. No idea but lets not take a vote on it.

  9. Take them in. It's our duty. Nobody should be deported - even if their asylum applications have been rejected - until the situation is stable there. The same goes for refugees from Iraq, who are also being deported by the Home Office.

The UK's current asylum and immigration policy is anything but 'soft'. It's barbaric.

  10. I like pete's answer but the location is wrong, how about Gaza or Iraq

  11. It is not the UK's issue as asylum under UN law must be claimed in the 1st safe country.

So shall we count all the safe countries between Zimbabwe and the UK?

  12. Send them to Ireland.

  13. Care for them as we would expect if the situation were reversed.

  14. Allow them have their lands back & understands that colonialism & imperialism is outdated. stop supporting those tiny parasiting white folk in there.........then every one will be back in peace

  15. Let themlive here in peace, tho if they are criminals or break our laws take them somewher worse, bet they would love it in ......................................al... (joke?!!)

  16. Genuine asylum seekers who can prove that they are fleeing persecution in their homelands will not be deported - they will be given right to remain here.

If they are being deported then their claim of persecution at home is spurious and not provable, or they have not followed correct procedure to come here - ie they have passed through other, perfectly "safe" countries to reach the UK, which invalidates their claim for asylum here.

Other than that, what can we do, realistically?  Zimbabwe isn't a "safe place to live" thats true, but are you suggesting we can accommodate the whole of Zimbabwe in the UK?

Its something Zimbabwe has to sort out for itself.  The white farmers who were forced out suffered similar persecution, now sadly the people of Zimbabwe are learning just how difficult life can be under a crazed dictator . . .

Otherwise I would agree with Professor Yaffle that they should seek asylum in South Africa or other nearby countries which are safe.

  17. Its not our concern, if u want to take someone into your home, hit the streets of the closest big city and offer help to an american.  We didnt create their problems over there so they must take care of their own country.

  18. Send them back!Britain was not their first port of call!

  19. I hope we can help them. I would personally put some up in my house. I was born to British parents in South Africa under Apartheid. That country has always suffered. first from segregation then under a tyrant who kills all who disagree with him. I'm not religious, but that is one country I pray for. We left because we could go home to England. those people leave or die. Its not right.

Edit: I notice the thumbs down, but don't you think we should help seeing as we took their country in the first place? I bet all the people who gave me the thumbs have never seen it with their own eyes. I'm sorry if this seems like a rant, but we are all safe and sound here in our houses. Gordon Brown isn't exactly going to kill us if we vote Tory is he!!!

  20. We should make another Israel for them... Location-wise, i suggest Madagascar

  21. Isn't it time that the African nations generally stepped up to the plate and took on some of these responsibilities. No nation in that continent is a colony any more.
