  1. A lot of sunscreen and don't down a lot of alcoholic beverages.  You always see many people who blow it by drinking too much and get dehydrated very bad and it ruins the experience for them and anyone they are with.  Sometimes that will ruin it for others as well.

The heat is brutal so the combo of no sunscreen and alcohol is bad news.

Ear plugs possibly and plenty of water and perhaps some headache meds , aleve advil, tylenol etc.

People live and die by the scanner but I don't think it is that necessary.

  2. Speaking of "drinking". You can do that anytime! Leave the drinking to the "pros". The true aspect of motorsports doesn't involve alcohol. Bring some extra cash and carry a cell phone in case you get seperated from your people.

  3. dont forget your sunscreen

  4. Wear comfy shoes!  The track I visit involves a ton of walking to get from vehicle to the track itself (stinks if you forget something in the car BTW)---I like to bring a towel or something to sit on b/c my butt gets sore (my track has the old fashioned bleachers--they hurt!!) :-)  have fun!!!

  5. If you've ever tailgated at a Football game you'll know what to do.

  6. Be exactly who you are and not anybody your not. Support your favortite driver. Leave early to avoid traffic.

  7. Some items to bring of consideration:

    1. Your tickets (of course, haha)

1.5. Fan appropriate gear (blend in!)

    1.7. Sunglasses

    2. Sunscreen

    3. Money (for merchandise, food, the works)

    4. Binoculars

    5. A little carry-on cooler where you can hold water, snacks, etc. (Texas is hot, ya know)

    6. Digital camera (to have pictures.. which is nice)

    7. Your good old self (be yourself, let which driver you support be known!!)

    Do's

    1. Be a fan

    2. Cheer wildly no matter who wins

    3. Be polite to other fans

    4. Be there EXTREMELY early, and leave early

    Don'ts

    1. Be drunk (dehydration, getting kicked out, etc.)

    2. Cheer wildly every single second (haha)

    3. Call everyone a hick or redneck (as I've seen happen, very ugly)

I hope you have a fantastic experience. You'll love it. I guarantee it.

  8. ....and your helmet for the flying debris if Busch wins yet another race.

You'll like the track. I love the Texas races. We go every race for the last 3 years and spend the entire weekend in the infield.

  9. gotta have ear plugs

  10. Most all Nascar tracks allow a "6-pack" sized cooler to be brought in by each person. If it's a soft collapsable cooler you can squeeze by on a little bigger one. You can bring as much of your own food, water, soda or beer you can stuff in there but no glass or hard alcohol. They can and do ask to check inside them at the gate so you know. No Strollers or Umbrella's for rain or sun. Check the tracks website. It should have exact policies on all the above.

Like mentioned, if you've ever tailgated at a football game it's the same thing at a race so feel free to bring a gas pit etc....

Get there as early as possible so you can relax and take your time. There's alot to look at before the race like the midway of t-shirt trailers etc. etc.

    Take it all in.

Traffic's a bear, be patient. You can either leave early or do what I do and tailgate until the traffic's gone.

    Have fun!

  11. I have season tickets to Texas...the best advice I can give is to wear comfortable shoes.  Also, to avoid SOME of the traffic, try to take 114 instead of 35 to the track.  35 is what everyone takes and you will sit there for hours, 114 is less crowded.  Enjoy and use sunscreen, even in November it will be hot!

  12. In has been my experience at Atlanta that when you go everyone is having a great time and alot of good natured fun is had by all. Some people however have a little to much fun so you should expect to see some things that might surprise you like vomiting, a few fights, and probably some topless women (not the good kind if you know what i mean). most of all just have some fun.

  13. People have given some very good advice... Here's one other thing.  Put all your "gear" you are taking in, such as scanners and other paraphenalia in a CLEAR plastic bag.  This speeds up passing thru the gate if they can see everything in your bag without having to ask you to open it.

Relax and have fun.  People will become spirited and you may be "hazed" somewhat on the walk up to the track by fans of drivers other than the one whose shirt or hat you are displaying, but it's all in good natured fun.  Everybody, or at least most people, are there to enjoy the race and cheer their driver on, just like you will be.... Have fun.
