What should you be shooting to make a golf team?

I just played a game of golf for the first time and i shot a 73. I beat my friend that has been playing golf for 10 years and he said that is crazy. Do you think that is good or do think it was beginners luck cuz i dont know. Ive had one lesson before i played and the pro said i was the best beginner golfer he had ever seen. Im 16 right now and im thinking about joining the highschool golf team this year. Do you think i would do good. And also im hitting around 300 yards with my driver is that good for my age?

It depends whatever your coach says you must beat. but if i were the coach i would be happy with what your shooting. Also if your drives are averaging around 300 thats d**n good for 16yrs old. I say go out for the team. You'll do great

Wow. You're good. I've been playing for 10 years (I'm 16 as well) myself and haven't had 73 for 18 yet (my best is 77). You'd probably be the top or near the top of the team. And yeah, 300 yds. is good for any age.

I'd say you've got some real potential. Keep it up!

Uh...yeah..I'm calling bullcrap on this one.  I have been around the game of golf every moment of everyday of my life basically and I have heard nothing like that.  73 for eighteen holes with 300 yard drives your first time out?  I was born at night, but it wasnt last night.  Good try though!

Ok yea, you'll prolly be #1 on the team. Thats phenomenal for a beginner! Im gonna be on a girls golf team and they'll take near anyone who shoots under 120. Keep playing and see how you do, but with a score like that- join!

wow i highly doubt that but a 73 for 9 holes is trash (i can take a putter and put the whole way to make that), for 18 holes its very good. golf takes a lot of form and practice, youre not tiger woods, and even tiger woods didn't even start out like that. 300+ yds for a driver is how much college team players shoot, for your first time, a driver for you isnt possible. and besides, even if you played sports similar to this, none of them require the same motion, or even similar (like tennis and baseball). at where i live, the golf requirement was 9 holes below 40 so double that thats 80. youll be on definitely if youre not bsing.
