  1. DONT DO IT!!!!

  2. There are lots of things to do on the Internet besides music. I do not download music and many people I know do not. You need to explore other sites besides music. How much music do you need????????????

  3. You should not do it. You should try to get it in a free download place. I would suggest Spiralfrog.com, it lets you download free music, and it is legal. Doing it illegally could cost you some time in jail...

  4. Pretend the FBI is busting down your door for pirating music.  That should cure you of wanting free music.

  5. I was about your age(you seem about 15) when Napster came along and screwed the whole music industry. I had a friend who had a CD burner(Yes, that was new then) who took lists from people with songs on them and burned CD's for $5.00 each. He bought a motorcycle with the cash he made.

Then seems like other P2P programs started to pop up everywhere after the success of napster. Not long after you could download other file types like movies and ISO's.

They refer to file sharing as p****y cause you are simply taking something that isn't yours.

When I got about 19 years old the RIAA and MIAA started setting up fake peers to with known songs on them to capture people as they download the copyrighted material. The people who was unfortunate enough to download from one of these fake peers would be sued by the RIAA or MIAA for a ridiculous amount(70K +)  and usually ended up settling in court for about $10k.

Now I'm 22 and I still hear about people being sued because they stumbled on one of these fake peers and got discovered.

So be careful..... Also you can get spyware, trojans, virus and other unwanted junk from downloading files. Hackers know people want these files so they hide their software into them in order to trick you into downloading it.

  6. If you get caught you could go to jail or pay a way huge fine. That might be a deterant for you.

  7. If you do it, you probably won't get caught, and probably won't get sued or go to jail. You'll save a lot of money, and the only people losing is the already ridiculously wealthy music industry. So the only thing stopping you is your ethics. If you feel it's wrong, then don't do it. You'll have a better conscious about it in the long run. And there's always the off chance that you will get caught, in which case then you're really unlucky because nobody ever gets caught, unless you do it on a college campus, in which case all they do is ban you from the internet for a month.
