Kind of sounds stupid...sorry, but how will you know. Will you hear a bang or what? How long do you have to wait before you can touch metal? thanks

  1. You definitely will hear a bang. Actually cars are fairly safe, but don't tap on metal.  Just avoid getting wet. Maybe I'm not the best adviser, I'm from San Diego, our weather is rather mild most of the time, but we do get some regular weather every year.

  2. on my way to the great canyon i picked up a couple who had had their car stuck by lightening. the power of the car was out of wack.. turning off and on. they were fine, but the car wasnt running too well.

  3. actually lighting cant strike a car because the tires on the car some kind of way keeps electricity 4rm going through the car..but good question. (i think i learned that in science class, i just remeber somebody else asking the same question at school one day).

  4. it would be very loud, lol. right after it strikes it should be ok to touch the metal in your car, would have to be raining alot to happen though

  5. there will be a bolt of blue and a slight buzzing noise , it dosent affect your car cause it isnt grounded nothing to be scared about the car should keep running but i dont recomemd stopping right away .

  6. To the people who say lightning can't strike your car:

Yes, it can and DOES hit cars, and the whole nonconductive metals thing is totally false.  Cars are made of aluminum and steel, both of which conduct electricity pretty d**n well.

If your car does get hit by lightning, however, you'll be fine unless you're touching some big hunk of bare metal.  It should be safe to get out of the car after the strike occurs, however, as the electrical charge from the lightning has already gone into the ground.

  7. you will never know becuse lightning cant struck ur car

lightning wont becuase the car is made out off a certain metals which arent good conductors

your wheels are made out of rubber and electricity cant pass through rubber

so if in doubt off lightning run to ur car

dont be afraid of it in ur car

    UR SAFE

    :D

  8. Lightning can strike your car, I don't care what people think. Lighting is a high enough voltage that the rubber tires don't matter. It is, however, unlikely that this would happen because a car is relatively low to the ground. If it does, just stay in the car and don't touch any metal. You can touch the metal as soon as the lightning bolt is gone, because the electricity is gone. My biggest worry would be the ECU. I would guess that the lightning could short out the computer that runs the engine, but I could be wrong because the electricity might go around the computer.
