What should you give a 12 year old girl for her Birthday?

My son has been invited to the birthday party of a 12 year old girl. I don't have any daughters and haven't a clue what to buy her for a present.

you could buy her something about her style if you know what it is .. for example some earings a smart shirt and a dress..  on the other hand, a lip gloss with some  eye shadows it's a good idea.. girls in this age want something to encourage them and make them familiar with their teenage, in which they are .. find a smart gift which be useful and let her know or give them advices about boys, make up and staff like that.. Don't forget that as a teenager she will have a lot to know and she  needs sth new to begin with.. If you know that, then you will find the best of all.. Good LucK:P

no clothes - if your not positive about her style or size then clothes are out of the question. gift cards are best - that way she can pick out her own clothes-- pacsun - limited too - hollister - abercrombie - american eagle and aeropostale are pretty good stores to get gift cards from

I wouldn't go with anything Hannah Montana or Disney channel. She is turning 12 so she is probably fading out of those stages.

I would get a giftcard to her favorite cltohes store. Some ideas are Abercrombie & Fitch, Hollister, American Eagle, Abercrombie Kids, Aeropostale, Old Navy, Forever 21, Delias, and the list goes on.

Also, if she has an ipod, a giftcard to the itunes store to get music would be a good alternative.

An add-a-pearl necklace with 1 or 2 pearls to start off with. A lot of people are going to get her cutsey presents like Hannah Montana stuff. The add-a-pearl is a more grown-up present. Others can give her pearls for other occasions, too. Then, when the necklace is completed, she will have memories of all the people that added to it as well as a beautiful piece of jewelry that she can wear forever and maybe pass down to her own daughter someday. A good friend of mine had an add-a-pearl since she was a kid; she wore hers on her wedding day.

When I was twelve I would have beat someone up if they came to my party with lip gloss.  Honestly. Never get a girl makeup (of any kind) as a present unless you know that she will like it. Some 12 year olds just aren't into it. If your son was invited, he knows the girl, ask him what she would like.

Gift certificates are a great idea, but again I would avoid the really girly stores (you know what I mean, the ones that sell mostly makeup and earrings at the mall)  stick to a store that will offer a variety of things (like wal-mart or kmart)

Maybe a cd or the best idea is to get a gift card if you really don't know what she wants.  Usually when I go to my friends birthday parties the gift card is the best idea.
