  1. it depends on your own spiritual beliefs.

if the child is old enough to understand, tell them simply what you believe a Christian is/or should be. tell them if they believe Jesus died for their sins & rose to prove there is a heaven then they are Christian. & there for should follow the teachings of Christ, not necessarily the teachings of the church <> "read the Bible for them selves so they know <> in their own opinion <> who Jesus was!

  2. Go to church and ask a priest.

If a kid wants to know, it's my duty as a compassionate human being to inform him as to the truth.

    edit:

Ah, of course, people don't care about why the kid would want to know, do they?

  3. I would tell him. There's no point on hiding information. But I would tell him the pro's and con's of christianity.

  4. I say "Go ask your parents."

ADD:  *DRINK* to the thumbs-down fairy!

(((GLOSSY!))) good AM dear and thanks for the props!

  5. I would say read about it and look at the evidence. I would also tell them that at their age they don't need to make any decisions about their religion so they shouldn't worry about it too much.

  6. tell him jesus was all about it, he said let the little children come to me, anyone who hurts them is better off drowned ina deep ocean with a weight around their kneck. so do what it takes, tell them that loving and believing in jesus is all they need, the rest will follow

  8. I would, in turn, ask him what he thought he meant by asking the question - what does the term "Christian" mean to him?

I don't think that I would say "you must do this or this or this - read the bible, go to church, follow the teachings of Jesus" first thing.

The very first thing i would want to know is his own definition. Then if "becoming a Christian" was the same as saying "becoming a train driver" to the child, I would answer his intended question (how can i become a train driver?)

Finally, I would explain what the term meant if he didn't know it. I would say that a Christian is someone who believes in the teachings of Jesus and that he is the Son of God.

I have talked to a five-year-old on the subject of God but found that explaining the idea of the Trinity - a core belief of most forms of Christianity - quite beyond me and just stuck to the idea of God the Creator and His Son. I'd keep it simple. It's bewildering to be told that becoming a Christian - or becoming anything else - involves absorbing a whole lot of symbolism if you're not very old..

And I'd say that I expected the child not to accept anything without thinking about it. That is, I'd ask the child his own opinion on the subject, based on what I'd  told him, to make sure that he had grasped the idea.

But I'm assuming that the child in question is under the age of seven or eight..

Also - I was only able to get into such a serious conversation because the child was my niece and I was aware of my sister's beliefs - that were, basically, never to accept anything without thinking about it. I think that I'd simply refer the child to his parents on the matter  if I didn't have some sort of authority over him.

  9. Just giving them you experience and how the faith have help you in your life plus ask one of your leaders

  10. I would show them what Jesus teaches in his word.

    Start with Romans 10: 9-10.

  11. (((Solly))) is right.

You should tell the child to talk to their parents.

    *Cheers*

  12. I would briefly outline the good and bad points of christianity, but also point out that there are many other 'beliefs' out there.

I would also STRONGLY suggest that they consider waiting until they are adult enough to make an educated decision, as in MY opinion NO person should be cast in a religious mould. We can't fight or vote or drink until we reach a certain age, why should we have a faith forced on us...

  13. Please make your friends, initially, in neighborhood; start telling and explain our and their children;I am lucky; I LEARNT FROM MY FRIENDS; CHRISTIANS, SINCE CHILD-HOOD.I was born in a FAMILY ; Sikh mother and Hindu father; I BELIEVE IN ALL RELIGIONS; PLEASE NOTICE THE BOOKS, LYING ON MY TABLE.

  14. I tend to think things to death like does the child have parents..would they be open to allowing their child going for religious instruction then if they didn't have a church i would look the child in the eye and ask if they would like to go to sunday school and learn more about jesus where i go. i would by them a childrens bible and maybe some other books about the faith what ever it is.  i would never miss a chance to encourage a child or anyone for that matter a chance to get to know jesus..of all the sins i have ever committed or ever will i couldn't face God knowing i had blocked the spiritual growth of a child..to forgive myself for that would be a challenge.

  15. Jesus said trust in God - trust also in Me.

God's nature as our Creator is evident to the minds of all of us through the creation. Even before anybody gets to hearing the message of God's Son Jesus - they know of God through their conscience. So its worth asking a child what they alread believe about God.

Question and answer is an effective way of teaching children.

So the essentials of getting saved are:

Trusting God to make you good and forgive you your sins (mistakes) (you have to be able to forgive all who sin against  you).

Growing up to love people as much as you would want them to love you.

Becoming mature so as to love even as much as God loves us which He demonstrated for us by dying on the cross to give us the ability to trust Him. - learning to sacrifice yourself for the good of others and empty yourself for others and deny yourself - put yourself last.

  16. Tell them this:

The only way to be saved and to get into heaven and avoid being sent to eternal h**l is by believing in faith alone that Jesus, who is God, died for our sins on the cross and rose from the dead (1 Corinthians 15:1-4). Believe this and you are saved!

Please pray now: "Jesus, please forgive me of my sins. I believe that You died on the cross for my sins and You rose from the dead. Thank You for eternal life!" You will be in heaven with Him forever when you die. :)

  17. I would say "You show that you actually understand what Christianity claims, then convert". Since almost no child could fulfill the first criteria, that settles it for the time being.

  18. Ask him or her first the reason why he thinks he should be a christian and with the answer taking help by the Bible and your life experience guide him to the truth lovingly.
