What side dish or appetizer should I serve for a barbeque with many guests?

Question

Being italian they want to try my italian cuisine. What would you think would be best

A) Bruschettas with tomatoes and mushrooms (for those who do not know it is bread rubbed with garlic and topped with tomatoes or mushrooms

b) eggplant parmesan, which are layers of eggplant with mozzarella cheese

c) itlalian rice salad witth rice, sapphron, hotdogs, kalamata olives,capers

d) lasagna but this dish is heavy and takes a long time to prepare and not sure if good with a barbeque

Let me know what you think would be best! I will also be making an almond ice cream with melted chocolate on top.

Bruschetta sounds like a wonderful appetizer;  and either b or c would be good with whatever else you're BBQing;  Caprese Salad would be a good side dish too.....  I love Tiramisu:)  Couldn't you make one for me?

if your having alot of guests,then you want something that spreads so I'd say B) or C) but it all sounds very good!!! hope you have a great time=)

I would go for the bruschetta- the lasagnas seem out of place for a barbecue.

Bruschetta sounds good, its a good appetizer or like a salad so a good starter. The others sound a little heavy and more entree like.

I opt for a or c. Eggplant parmesan is fantastic but is an acquired taste - a lot of people don't like eggplant. I think your instincts are good about the Lasagna. Save it for an indoor sit-down dinner.  Here are a couple of other options that are appetizer/side dish like.

the brushettas - the others sound more main course and this will be easy to handle for guests who can just pop it into their mouths and enjoy. It will be a BIG hit! Have fun!

I vote of a and c. These are side dishes and lasagna and eggplant parmesan are main dishes.

Regular side dishes for Barbeque are potato salad and pinto beans (not the canned ones) cooked with bacon. Think about having the flavors go together. Serve italian things as the appetizers then serve regular barbeque foods that go together, otherwise nothing goes together. The almond ice cream sounds lovely.
