I know that Stewart-Haas couldn't have the #4 because of the wishes of Morgan-McClure, but I wonder why they chose #39. I heard in an interview that Ryan wasn't really attatched to a number. Does #39 have some significance to Tony Stewart or something, or was it just a number he saw as not being likely to be wanted by another team? I'm kind of out of the loop here.

I do know I like the song '39 by Queen, though.

  1. Ryan had his first USAC win in a #39 car, he also started 14 Nationwide (Busch) races in a #39. Ryan had no attachment to the #4, but #39 does have some importance to him. Tony thought it would be something cool he could do for Ryan & Krissie Newman by letting Ryan drive a # important to him.
