Your misuse of the word "have" makes me think you are not American.  Tell us who you are and how you can judge our "sins".  Have you got the guts?  The only "sin" we committed in New Orleans is building a city below sea level and not building safe enough levees....and then partially re-building it.

The sin of denying global warming and obstructing international efforts at dealing with it, and exporting virtually all manufacturing to countries (like China) with dirtier (cheaper) energy production and then blaming those other countries for polluting the globe when in reality it's being done on behalf of multinational corporations that have no environmental responsibility.

Ironically the one thing we've tried to do to stop global warming is making things worse - we're causing deforestation to grow fuel crops and replacement of food crops with fuel crops resulting in a food shortage and no improvement in the environment.

Ask the religious right fanatics. These people seem the most familiar with God and His plans for this world and its people. I can say definitely that we have become far too materialistic and that goes for the religious element also. We have lost the desire to protect the sanctity of life, property, and the freedoms upon which this country was founded. Man proposes but God disposes.
