What sites do you recommend to help when planning an around the world travelling?

I am planning on taking a year out of work to go travelling around Asia and Australia, What sites and/or advice can you give to me on what to do while im there / what i should not miss out on / how much accomodation / food will cost / where to stay / where to eat....basically anything you can think of so I can plan the best possible year of my life!
