What situation would you rather have?

A 10 foot chip shot 2 feet from the green or a 20 foot putt?

definitely the chip. Twice as close =twice as much chance for a hole out.

Good question. If the lie is good, I'd take the chip.  It would be a case by case basis.

I prefer the putt because I'm more comfortable with it. A chip can sometimes be hit thin and zoom past the hole. A well struck putt should put you within 3 feet and you get a two putt par or maybe a birdie.

I would probably take the 20 foot putt.  A ten foot chip 2 feet off the green means that I only have 8 feet of green to work with so I would have to hit a really precise chip at just the right speed to get it to go in.  Then there is the matter of what type of lie do you have off the green, will the ball come out hot or could I chunk it.  Whereas the 20 foot putt is just that a twenty foot putt, read it and drain it.  Then again - they don't call me "Flatstick" for nothin.

I gotta go with MBL on this one.  If it's a good lie, gimme the chip.  With a good lie, a chip really isn't that much different than a putting motion.

If the ball is buried in grass on the chip, I'd take the putt in a heartbeat.

Chip off a good lie on the collar or fairway.

It would also depend on the break.

I like this question-there is no wrong answer but I would much prefer the ten foot chip.  I think odds of making it are quite a bit better.

h**l Thats ez The putt I don't have the yips so the putt would be my choice I have an Extra long putter almost to my sternum and am deadly with it on long or short putts chipping......well lets say chilli dippers chunks flubs skulls thinj ....... the list goes on so Ya the 20 footer would be my choice
