What size Grain should i use for a 243?

Im getting a new 243, and i was wonder what size grain i should shoot. i am going to be using it for Deer hunting. Does it really matter what size? Also what does diffrent size grain effect?

  1. I have had fantastic luck on deer with the Sierra 85 grain boat-tail hollow point over IMR 4350 powder.


  2. i shoot a 100 grain. you can try a 125 ish, but that might be a bit too much.

  3. 100 grain Nosler partition rounds. The grain affects the momentum the bullet carries and the impact force. A lighter bullet does less energy departure on impact, so less damage. 80 gr hollow points are great for ground hogs, while 125's would be good for black bears.
