What size amp do i need if i drop 2 ohm subs down to 1 ohm?

i'm in the process of buying a truck with an ext. cab. i'm also in the process of buying a system for the truck. the subs are 4 (2) ohm 12" pioneer premier ts-w3001d2 @ 3000w dual dvc. the max wattage is 3000 but if i drop the ohms they will double. so i'm wondering what sixe amp will i need. is it a monoblock amp, mono amp, or it doesn't matter as long as the amp is 1 ohm stable? please help me with this delimma. thank you very much for the help!!

  1. Did I read that correctly? You are going to use 4 of those? In that case, you want a mono block, and it would have to be 1 ohm stable. The subs are rated at 1000 watts RMS each, (RMS is all you need to worry about ignore peak) so you would need an amp rated at 4000 watts RMS @ 1 ohm. This would be rather expensive, so you would probably be better off with multiple amps. Now comes the real problem, supplying power to a 4000 watt system, your car would require significant  and expensive upgrades to the entire charging system, and electrical system. you may want to rethink this, if you want to avoid these upgrades, depending on your car, limit your total system power to 1000 to 1500 watts RMS.
