  1. I recommend an actual snake cage, rather than an aquarium.

Aquariums with removable tops are NOT escape proof- no matter WHAT the pet store tells you.

Almost every day, somebody here asks how to find their snake, that escaped from an aquarium.

  2. A 20 gallon is fine for now, but as your snake begins to grow you will want to upgrade to a larger tank. Something like the 120 gallon mentioned by the other responder would be ideal. As for when to upgrade, it's not so much age that matters as the size of your snake. The more they eat the faster they grow. Be careful not to let your snake get overweight though, in your effort to make it grow quickly. I recommend you do some reading on the subject. DON'T GO TO WIKIPEDIA THOUGH that is not trustworthy info. Anybody can put stuff on that site!

    Good luck!

  3. 10 gallon will be fine for a baby but i know i keep my 4 year old 4ft ball in a 120 gallon custom enclosure made of wood with glass front and screen top which has helped out a lot with humidity and retaining heat compared to a glass terrarium

  4. 29 gallon tank will be fine, 50 gallon will be better, you don't need any bigger than that.

  5. It's best for a baby to start out at a 20 gallon long aquarium, and then as an adult a 40 gallon "breeder" tank. They need more crawling than climbing room.

  6. wow, my snake is a ball python. We built him a home out of a store bought tv enclosure. Its pretty pimp. has a glass door, cutout shelves he can slither thru. We used spray form to make rocks and to waterproof the inside. had a pane of glass cut to put the heat sheet underneath. cut a hole on top to fit a screen to.

If you're interested in a neat habitat, email me and I'll elaborate on how to do this all.

  7. a 10 gallon is fine for a baby. even a 20 gallon long would work. if you do go for the 20 then furnish it enough so there are not alot of open spaces.

the 20 should last it until it almost reaches 3 feet. at 3 feet a 55 gallon would house it for the rest of its life from there. if you want to get a 55 gallon for a baby, add alot of decor!! the open space will overwhelm the baby and stress it out.

    good luck!
