I'm just starting snowboarding and I was wondering what size board to get... I'm 5' 5 1/2", 135lb, and I wear a UK size 7 shoe... I know the best way is to see for myself, but as a guide, what size should I be looking at?

  1. Based on your weight, you should be looking at something within the range of 152-157, depending on the type of riding you think you will be doing. Narrow your search to the short end of that if you plan to be doing tricks, and toward the long end if you plan to be riding powder. If your feet are large you will need a wide board so your toes and heels don't drag when you turn. Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with UK shoe sizes, so I can't help you much in that area.

    have fun snowboarding

  2. if ur a begginer get anything between 150-160. once you see what you like to do...terrian park or powder..if you like terrian park smaller board for powder you want a bigger one

  3. id say if you are mostly doing  park riding a 146-150cm

and if you are doing more powder or mountain riding like a 152-156

    im 5 6 1/2, 140 lbs and size 10 and i ride a 148 capita stairmaster extreme

but if you want a site goto

    snowboardlengthcalculator.com

but its just a online calculator not always the best way to find your size

i think you will be good with a 148

and once u get a feel for your board and the type of riding you can always go bigger or smaller what ever your most comfortable with

  4. Small board is easier to ride for an experienced rider.

A larger deck is way more stable, but alot quicker as well. It's not as easy to spin though.

Big board is great for the BlueBird Pow mornings, Smaller deck for the park.

  5. Use a snowboard calculator like this one:

According to what you said, about a 151cm. Longer if you are still growing and want to ride all mountain or power, shorter if you are going to be in the park.

    Good Luck

  6. well the board should be somewhere between your chin and your nose. for the shoe, it should fit well, cant be loose or too tight.

    good luck and have fun!

  7. iisasnowboader pretty much nailed it. longer (to an extent) is better for control while shorter makes tricks easier to pull off. you can also play around alittle with the width. i have large feet US size 13 so i usually ride a wide board. theres a few centimeters in which your feet arent dragging and the board isnt so wide that switching from toseide to healside is a problem. a wider board is better for powder and since i do alot of that i try to keep my board as wide as it can get without makeing swithching edges a challenge.

when youre shopping for a board since youre about normal weight id say that you should hold the board up and your sholder is a good marker for a park board and your nose is a good mountain board with your chin being the medium in between.

youve got the right idea in trying stuff out so go with it and find the right board for you.

    good luck!
