  1. Best not to use a 30 amp breaker, as the cable is probably only good for a 20 amp load. Your pump can draw as much as 9 amps on start up, or under max load, depending on size. Ideally I would put a 16 amp breaker on the circuit (enough capacity for a salt chlorinator, pool light, party lights, etc.) If you really wanted to do it right, a separate earth leakage breaker is handy to stop all your power going off when the pumps decides to trip

  2. Use the lowest breaker you can. Never more than the max amps for the cable?

Whats the power of the pump?

    --------------------------------------...

Whats the max amps the pump will take

    1.5 hp x 750 watts = 1125 watts

    1125/ 240volt = 5 amp ?

pump may take higher amps on start up

  3. you should check maxinum amp load of motor and size for that....the purpose of a breaker is to save the wire from burning out

  4. NO use a 20 amp breaker.
