What size cage should i get for 2 budgies?

I am buying 2 budgies and i would like to know what the minimum cage size would be.

  1. Bigger is always better as most say. The cage should be minimum of 18L X 12H X 12 W in inches but I would go maybe to 20L X 30H X 20 W if your housing a pair. This would probably give them the minimum amount of space to fly and climb and such but you can always go bigger. As long as the cage bar spacing does not exceed 1/2 inch. Also look for a cage that is square or dome top. No round cages as ive hard birds get their heads or toes through and then make their way up to the top of the cage getting their foot caught. Also look for wrought iron,powdered iron, or stainless steel cages.


  2. 15 X 15 X 18 is the minimum size.

    I suggest larger, especially for two birds.

  3. When I was at pet smart they had a advisement on how many birds you should put in the cage.  I would error on the side of large...get the bigger cage...this makes it more roomy for the birds.
