I have a 2 channel Legacy 4299 amp which peaks at 4200 watts, a 4 channel pyramid amp that peaks at 1000 watts and a Pioneer sub that peaks at 1200 watts. I changed my alternator today to a 200 amp? I don't know what battery I need, I was lookin at a optima yellow top. Is that ok? also I have a 1.5 farad capacitor. is that enough for my system? Im driving a 1988 Acura Legend jus so u know. some body help me please!

  1. yeah and with all that peak c**p find out the RMS level of your amps and subs and make sure U use a 2 or 0 guage  power set to the cap and a 4 guage from cap to amp,,,

  2. stock battery should be fine with that beastly alternator. but if you want a new one go with an optima red top if its the battery running your car or an optima yellow top if you just want an extra battery. DO NOT USE THE YELLOW TOP TO RUN/START THE CAR

  3. You don't need a power cap, you will NEVER need a power cap, they are just for show cars, made to look cool. And you are talking about peak power, so i assume you have no idea what you are talking about when it comes to car audio. We use watts RMS buddy. I also assume that you didn't even need that alternator, since you are talking about peak power, i can't be sure if you really needed that alternator or not, but my guess is "no". Your starting battery will be fine with that, you should put a yellow top in the trunk to help with voltage drops, and upgrade your "Big 3" in 1/0 Gauge.
