  1. Plain Ol'Jeff Knows what he is talking about my son has been playing hockey since he has been 5 yrs old and I couldn't have said it better trust what he said. My son really only feel comfortable in a Bauer skate we tried easton before and reebok but he likes Bauer. Also shop around don't settle for any price compare they do get pricey, My son is 11yrs old and is in a 11.5 men's shoe 10.5 skate they become very expensive but I shop around I wait for sales and I look for coupons I usually pay about $120 ! I refuse to pay more since he has not stopped growing I will buy the skates that you can have molded to his feet when he stops. FyI if the skates seem tight you can always have them stretched. Good luck have a good season.

  2. usually they run about 3 sizes smaller than a shoe size. that's how it's always been for me. i have a 9 shoe size and my skates ate a 6.5. so maybe run along those guidelines? also the best thing to do is go to the store and have them try them on so you know the size and then go online and buy them because even some companies run different sizes. if that's not available then try to stick with the guidelines i gave you.

the best skates ive seen for younger kids are the ccm ones with the k**b on the top that you twist to tie. its much easier since young ones usually can't tie their skates. here's a link

  3. If you don't know, don't buy online. Skates usually fit a size and a half smaller, but Don't go on that. Try them on. Different companies have different foot molds, so even if it's the right size numerically the skate could hurt his foot every time he puts it on if it's a brand that doens't fit his foot, or if he actually needs a half size above or below...

Only buy online when you know the brand that has the right foot shape and you know what size you'll need in that brand.

  4. maybe the same size? or half larger or smaller, bring him with you when your buying them..
