I've heard always go bigger than you need. I saw a 15 yard yesterday and it looked like twice what I needed. I don't want it too wide so it stays on my side of the driveway.

  1. 5 yards

  2. You are correct, bigger is better. Most dumpster companies will charge you a flat rate for delivery and pickup, and the only variable rate is for the tonnage of waste. That said, you can use the dumpster to clean out anything else lying around the house. The 15 yardage is also a good size because it is still low to the ground. If you go with a 20 or 30, they will be head high and a pain to use.  Good Luck!

  3. Hi,

Check out http://www.bookadumpster.com as they have images of the different sized dumpsters along with the dimensions.  You can also get online quotes for renting the dumpster.  If you have any questions they provide a Live Chat where they will be able to answer any of your queries.

  4. Go with a  5 yard capacity. That's plenty big enough for your project.

If you have a friend with a pick up truck with a long bed that would also work it could be made in two trips.

  5. Looks to me like you have 3 options

1- a 5 cu yd open top can ( dumpster ) is quite adequate, but you risk damage to your driveway

2- use a pickup, or other means, to transport the materials to the landfill or transfer station yourself

3- there is a new line of business that is catering to the homeowner.  The concept is that they will deliver a trailer to your property, you load it, they haul it when you are ready.  The cost is about the same as using an open top with less chance of property damage.
