  1. depends on the boat, all boats have a h.p. rating it should be on a tag mounted on the inside of the hull.

  2. That depends on what kind of "fishing boat" you have.  If it's a light aluminum flat bottom, 25 hp will scoot you along.  If you have a fiberglass bass boat you'll need 70.

  3. There should be a plate on the stern that will tell you the max horsepower rating, the max weight of your boat and/ or max people allowed. It is figured by the us coast guard.

  4. go with boat manufacturers reccomendation for size and buy the biggest that u can afford.

  5. Assuming it is a fiberglass hull, I don't think you would be satisfied with anything less then a 70. also assuming the transom is in good shape I wouldn't go more then a 115.

check the manufacturers HP rating. its on the hull somewhere on or near the transom.

  6. Aluminum...20-40

    Glass....50(slow) or 70 to 90 or 100

  7. What kind of fishing boat and where will you be using it?

  8. 75 to 90....i got 17 footer with a 50 but thats not enough, i wish it had closer to an 80 on it...
