depends on what model.a 4.0 V-6 has a 15 gallon tank.the limited with the 5.0 V-8 has a 20 gallon tank.as for mileage the V-6 gets about 21-26 mpg on the highway,20 with reg unleaded,26 with super.the V-8 gets about 12-18 mpg depending on your driving habits.i own three explorers,2 V-6.and 1 97 limited with the 5.0.great trucks.
