What size gauge wire should I use with 2 10" and 1000watt amp?

I have an Alpine PDX-1.1000 and two (2) Alpine SWR-1022D subs that I need to wire, and I was wondering which wiring kit I should use, 8 gauge? 4 gauge? 2 guage? thanks

  1. 4 gauge is usually for car systems 500rms to 1000rms. So 4 gauge.


  2. If that is your only amp and you are running it anormal length of a car (under 20') then you will be fine with 4 gauge.  If you add more amps you might want to consider moving up to 2 or 0.

  3. actually you could use 8 gu wire on that setup and be fine
