I have a 2002 v6 ford mustang. I have a 7.5 diff., I heard by changing the gear I can get better acceleration.... I was thinking of 3.45 because I dont want to hurt my gas milage... but I dont even know what size I have in there right now? Does anyone know the size of my stock gears and would 3.45 give my slugish car a good jump?!

  1. look all over the axle and gear housing. look for a tag or stamped numbers. this will identify the the type ratio you now have. more than one type could have been used 2002..

  2. 3.73's would be better for acceleration, but will hurt mpg a little..

this site says you have a 3.15, so the 3.45 might be enough.,

  3. If you're not racing, stay with the 3.45 if you care about mpg's. I have 3.55 in my cobra. and it accelerates fine, yet gives 25mpg on the hwy in OD.
