  1. It's not the BTU of the air conditioner that is important.  It's the watts or volt-amps required.  Somewhere on the AC unit you will find a ratings plate that states then umber of VOLTS and the number of AMPS required.  Multiply these 2 numbers together to get WATTS.  If you're lucky this number is already part of the label and for practical purposes watts and volt-amps are the same.

    This is the minimum amount of power required for that appliance only.  Then you have to add up the rest of the appliances as well then multiply by 1.2 for a 20% overhead to cover startup up surges.  That is your minimum requirment then round up to the next highest generator model.
