  1. for bag gloves it is good to have large 16 ounce gloves and very small 8 ounce or small gloves. The larger for endurance and the smaller to work on speed. As for the size of glove you will fight with you need to just ask your trainer what size you will be fighting with and get those for sparing gloves. Check out ringside.com and everlast.com both are good places to get boxing equipment. I could be wrong but I'm sure that it is everlast which is mostly used by amateur boxers while in compeition

  2. If you are a woman, then there are gloves suited to fit your hands made especially for women.  Who will you be boxing against?  Another woman?  If you are, then maybe I'd go 14 oz.  I train with 16 oz gloves, but I'm a big woman, and I punch hard.  If you practice with a man, even lighter gloves should suit you.  After you identify what size gloves fit your hand, you have to decide on weight.  The heavier, the more cushioning, with 16 oz usually being the heaviest.  Anything lighter than 8 oz is probably going to be a bag glove or mma gloves.

  3. Get one that will fit your hand.
