I am 5'4" and weigh about 11 stone. I'm thinking that a 14.2hh connemara type would be about right, but would this be a little big? As I hope to do lots of jumping and I want the right size pony/horse.

The type of pony I'm looking at are; connemara, welsh sec D, haflinger, fell etc... poss middleweight cobby.

I do hope to loose some weight soon!

Thanks x*x

  1. no offense, but that horse is gonna have to have some pretty strong legs to hold you up

I am new to making easy money on the internet, and always thought it was a scam. I tried this website and they actually send you a check in the mail if you watch $10 worth of advertisements which is cake. All I did was make a free account on it, watch a few advertisements, then I got a check in the mail and it worked. I didn't think they would really send the check, but sure enough I received it. 2. OK.

YEA I THINK YOU SHOULD GO FOR THE COBBY TYPE AS THEY ARE REALLY SWEET AND DOCILE. THEY AREN'T THE GREATEST JUMPERS EVEN BUT MOST CAN JUMP ABOUT 3FT +

IV'E JUST BEEN BROWSING THROUGH SOME HORSES AND THIS ONE LOOKS QUITE NICE FOR YOU.

    GOOD LUCK!

  3. "the connemara is Way to big for you" - starqualityarabians.

I know she advertises knowing more than everyone else about horses and I am not about to make that claim for myself... but I do have to wonder if she knows the connemara is a pony.  ::scratches head::

I like the Welsh D idea. They are awesome little guys.

  4. I'm looking to buy a 14.2 pony (well 14.1 and a little) and I'm 5'2", and I fit on her just right, if that gives you an idea. I think you might want to try 15 or larger, but it really depends on how you feel on them after that!

  5. When looking for a horse, don't look for a specific breed or size. What really, truly matters is the bond between you and your horse. Who knows, you may find a 16.3 hand high Thoroughbred to be your best match.

Trust me, keep you options open and don't limit your horizons by breed or height.

  6. I would definately recommend a Connemara pony. They are the ultimate all-rounders. However I am the same height and weight and I don't feel right on a 14.2h. It is possible to get Connemara's that are 15h but they are rare and sometimes not eligible for showing in breed competitions. Alternatively you can always get a Connemara cross. Welsh Cobs are nice as well.

Please ignore Starqualityarabian. She has been giving false answers to a huge number of questions today. In fact I normally don't agree wioth reporting but she is really getting on my nerves.

  7. Appendix Quarter horse is the best for you. I know you want a pony, but Appendix QHs are awesome too! They are good jumpers and super strong. You can get a shorter one, or a taller one. Take a look at them! I know you'd love em!

  8. I think that size should be fine for you but it also depends on what size horse or pony you feel comfortable on and it depends on their build. I am 5'2" and I personally prefer to ride larger horses for what I do.

Never mind starqualityarabians ranting or professed expertise. A connemara type should be fine. Horse riding and all the work you do with horses will help you get fit. It certainly helped me :)

  9. Definitely a Poss Middleweight Cobby!!! i have one and they are great to ride

a little advice on one of the people who answered your Questions:

I've lived on a ranch all my life and i know ALOT MORE THAN the girl that says "she has been riding since she was three".....well newsflash you cant ride horses when you're three you can only get lead around on them

don't listen to her she is  full of a bunch of c**p....and she is making everything up........the connemara is Way to big for you

but whatever i would pick the poss middleweight cobby

    hope i helped

  10. im 5 4 and i look good on a 15.2 horses. i would go for a taller horse if i were you

  11. yes, that would be about the right size for you, and connemaras are fantastic jumpers' in general.

ignore that first answerer - they are talking out of a place i dont like to mention.

    much love xx
