  1. I would go for something between 14 to 14.2 hands.

If you have a local riding stable near by go and see them and they will advise you and perhaps try a few of the ponies.

Also you could contact someone from riding for the disabled they might point you in the best direction - perhaps an old school master may be the best way to go - somthing slow and reliable.

    Good luck in your search..

  2. The horses withers (shoulder) should be at the girls shoulder ideally but abit over or under is perfectly fine. Remember a hand is 4 inches so you should be able to work it out from there (ow and you might know, but a horse is measured to the withers) Try not to get anything to big for her or she will find it hard to handle, we've all made that mistake before.

    Good luck and have fun

  3. A small pony would be best, perhaps an American Shetland, which are almost like small horses instead of having the round pony build.

  4. Yah, i would suggest maybe a Quarter pony, they ussually are mellow and sweet, and they dont have the miniture pony attitude/ stubborness. Maybe about 13-14 hh.

  5. Get one about 14 hands not to big and not to small

this size is a pony,, but thats ok

as long as they have not been ruined by a bunch of kids

and size is really not what you need I think a nice quiet one

she can always use a mounting block to get on and have help brushing etc

  6. WELL IM 14 AND I RIDE A 14,2 PONY BUT I AM 5,3FT SO I WOULD SUGGEST A 12'2-13'2 PONY WOULD BE IDEAL BECAUSE YOU DON'T WANT TO GET A HORSE WHICH IS TO BIG FOR HER AS SHE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO TACK IT UP ETC AS SHE WONT BE ABLE TO REACH!

  7. i don't know

  8. The size shouldn't matter If it's very very gentle. Bombproof!!!

I've seen 5 year olds ride big 16 hand horses before.

  9. I would get a smaller size horse. Since she is fully mobile she should be able to handle it. I would not get a pony since they are buggerish little creature. But more importantly than size is attitude. You'll probably want an older, experienced horse that is 'bombproof'.
