  1. This size sounds good as the breeding makes this horse quite strong and able to carry your weight and your hight would look good on this size. But bear in mind you may still grow, as long as you do not expect to grow more than three or four inches and can keep your weight gain to no more than a stone more this size will do.

  2. 15 to 16 hands, A hand is 4 inches. What kind of riding do want to do?

  3. It's not just about the size. You have to think about how seriously you want to ride. For now I would go with the Connemara x Irish mix. She sounds like she is the best height. Usually the smaller you are the shorter horse you need, and the taller you are the taller a horse you need. I am 5'10'' and I ride anything from 14.2hh and higher.

  4. Well, I'm about the same height, and about 150 pounds, and my horse is 16 hands. I think he's a little on the big side for me, but he's a giant sweetheart, so it works out. I'd say..nothing below 14 hands ideally, unless it's a very stout animal. 15 hands would probably be the ideal for you.

  5. I am about your height and like them over 16 hands...mount can be a little hard cause you have to really pull yourself up but I really wouldnt want a smaller horse to ride.

  6. If I were you,I think a nice 15 or 16 hand horse would be good.

  7. 15 hands would be a good size.  You could go a little smaller.  I'm 5 ft. 4 in. and have ridden 16 1/2 Tennessee Walker, but had to climb onto a hay wagon to mount.  No problem once I was on him, though.  You sound like a novice so just to let you know, a hand equals 4 inches and the horse is measured at the withers.
