What size/kind of surfboard should I get?

I live in south FL (deerfield beach). The waves never get over 4ft. unless theirs a hurricane or tropical storm so I figure a fun board will do. Im 5'11" and about 155lbs.

Get a "fish".  These boards are fast and maneuverable, and are perfect for smaller surf.  They are thicker so they catch waves like a longboard, but they are shorter with a wider tail so they carve like you want it to!  Something in the 5'8" - 6' range should suit someone of your size quite well.  Have fun!

i would start off with a 9'0 and work your way down if you want to short board but as the dude before me said longboards RULE!
