Will a 50 hp Johnson motor work for wakeboarding? If so how many other people can be in the boat while wakeboarding?

  1. If the 50 HP motor can get the boat to plane with a rider behind it, it can be used.  Obviously, the more people in the boat, the longer it will take to get the boat on plane.  I would try and limit it to no more than three to start.  That would be a driver, a spotter, and the rider.  If that works out for you, then add another passenger and see if the boat can still get to plane and the rider can still get up.

The longer it takes to get on plane, the stronger the rider will need to be to get themselves up.   I've wakeskated behind an older Seadoo that struggled to get on plane with me behind it.  It took a lot of brute force on my part to get up, but once on plane, not a problem.  I say ride behind what ever you got, wench, truck, PWC, or boat.  As long as you are having fun, it is worth a shot.  It is all about the fun.  Hope this helps.

  2. 50 hp could work mostly depends on person being towed
