I have a three-burner LP barbeque I want to convert to natural gas. It is rated 36,000 BTU, and the three orfices have stamped on them either 099 or 660. I think that probably means .099". I'm considering drilling them out but would first like to see if I can just replace them from the local BBQ store.

Cheers!

  1. If you are converting it to natural gas and I presume your barby is set at 2kpa at the regulator don't change the injectors yet. Set the NG at 1 kpa and as the gas is about 1/3 the density of lpg just try running it with the same injectors. It is important you set the correct pressure with a manometer.

  2. Not sure on size...but I too have drilled them out just a little bigger than they are now. Don't go too much bigger....you can always go bigger later if that wasn't enough. If you do go too big you can use a pointed center punch or a good hard nail to ping around the hole and make it smaller.

  3. Contact the manufacturer of the grill and purchase new orifices for natural gas use.  This way there will be no problems.  If you try to guess at what size they should be you could be in BIG trouble.

  4. I'm not sure what your numbers mean but my book shows that the LP. orifices should be about a #61 drill and for natural gas that would be about a #52 drill at 3.5" in a water column of gas pressure.
