  1. Assuming that you are perfectly comfortable with your 7 footer, the real deciding factor on what you get should be your local break. At 150 lbs, a piece of plywood will float you, so you can easily go 'short'. I won't venture a guess on-line, because I don't know your break(s). Go to a good local surf shop and ask the pros there what will fit your break, weight, skill level (and budget). Don't be bashful! You can go as short as they recommend.

I went short gradually, during the short board revolution of the late sixties, and being a fat dude, I never went shorter the 6'4", although I had lots of buddies riding boards in the fives. get the real answer at a good local shop, and good luck!

  2. used to have a 7' board and then i moved to a 6' 5" and it's perfect for me

  3. It depends on your ability.  For your weight, if you are looking for an all around board then I would go with something 6'3" 18 1/2-19" wide 2 1/4" thick.  Or, just go to any shop and look at something in the 6'3" range for an all around shortboard.  If you mostly surf small waves, I would seriously consider a fish in the 5'9" - 5'10" range.  If you are a better surfer, you can go smaller but the dims I provided should be just fine.  It's better to have more foam than not enough.

  4. yeah get something that when you stretch out over it your feet don't hang over and you should have a couple feet clearance from your head to to tip of the board.  have fun man

  5. 6 foot board

  6. 6'5 ,   19 1/2,    3 1/4

  7. Since we're into summer with all the inconsistent waves in Central Florida, a performance fish is the answer. This board won't be too much of a transition for you, will float you well, and still give you the ability to ride high performance. The dimensions are very similar to a shortboard, with the exception of the extra inch in width, to accommodate your weight and ability.

Check it out. I live in the Sebastian area and will sell it to you for 400 bucks. Never seen water, brand new, and custom shaped by local Bruce Grimes. You won't beat this deal on a new stick. Email me if interested.
