I am a 5'3" female, 120 lbs and an intermediate skiier. I have owned skis since I was in high school. I have only rented since that time but am on the market to buy new ones.

  1. well... ask yourself what size was I renting and then use that as a base.

The folowing sites have ski selectors so try them and come up with an average from them all (you may have to convert to metric to use some)

  2. Most of the skis now have a lot of shape and the rule of thumb is to get a ski about 10 cm shorter than you are.    I would think for your height about 135 or so.

  3. I would go with something in the 150-160 range for twin tips and between 145 and 155 for non twins.

Despite what the previous answerer stated, the trend now is to go a bit longer. Short skis went out with snowblades for a reason, longer ski= more stability at speed, which is very important if you intend to become more skilled.
