  1. Don't use "to your chin" - that is only a rule of thumb that only works for some riders.

It also depends on your riding style, your ability and your foot size. You should use a snowboard size caculator. Assuming you ride on the groomed runs (freeride), are a beginner, and your foot is smaller than a 10.5 - I think a 157 would be the right size for you. A little smaller if you are getting a freestyle board. Try this calculator:

  2. Actually, the "up to your chin" measurment is not the right way to choose a size. Your weight is the number one factor. A snowboard up to your chin would probably be like a 153 or 154. But you weigh 190 pounds which is way past the limit of any board that size. For your weight, the range you are looking for is probably between 158-161 if you want optimum performance. You are probably looking for a directional twin snowboard, which means it can ride switch fine in the park but still has the tail power for the rest of the mountain. I like the Rossignol JDub 158 or the Palmer Burn. Both are exceptional all-mountain freestyle boards that will suit you perfectly. You can ride the Burn in either a 158 or 160, the 160 will give you more stability at higher speeds but the 158 will be easier to throw around in the park.

  3. You typically want a board that is going to come right up to the bottom of your chin. If you go with something shorter it'll be easier to do more tricks with, something longer will give you more stability and make it easier for just mountain cruising.
