  1. The sort of board you should go for is an entry level all Mountain board, these type of boards are great for begineer riders as they can be used for all types of riding freestyle, freeriding and in powder. The sort of size you should go for this type of board is around a 152, this is based on your height and weight. But as you are a begineer rider you could go a bit smaller than this, say down to a 149. Small boards are better for new riders as they are easier to control and to learn the basics on. As for what brand to buy there are many good brands about that make good boards, but you need to make sure you get a board that suits you and your level of riding rather than just buying based on brand. Some good begineer all mountain boards that would suit you are

    Ride Vista

    Burton Feather

    Sapient Fluid

    Salomon Lotus

    K2 Skyla

All these boards are entry level so will be easy to ride and learn on, but are also progressive enough to last you a couple of years, Good Luck.

  2. put a board straight up and mesure it to ur height

if its about right around ur upper lip to nose its good

  3. Almost everything Larry D said is wrong. Height does matter. Longer boards don't mean you go faster, they're just better in powder. And shorter boards are better for freestyle (jumps, rails, etc.) Freestyle boards are NOT good for beginners at all. Freestyle boards are for the terrain park and I doubt that you will be in the terrain park as a beginner. Get a freeride board. They're for all-terrain and most importantly...powder.  Also, Burton is not the most popular brand out there, they've just been around the longest. But yes, they are a good brand.

Yeah thats a perfect size. I am about the same height and weight and I have a 152 cm. Some good brands are Gnu, Ride, Flow, Forum, Nitro, Burton, K2, Rome... Roxy is an okay brand too for a girl.

Most of these brands are pretty expensive, but they should last a while depending on how hard you rip. Good luck.

  4. Don't listen to that height thing everybody always tell you to. You height doesn't really matter. It's your weight that matters and what you going to use it for. If you want to go down a hill faster than get a bigger board, if you want to turn faster get a smaller one. You want to get a girl board and you probably want it to be a freestyle board since your a beginner. I personally like Burton. They cost a little more but they last a really long time. They are the biggest name out there. Other good brands are K2, Ride, Rome. If you go to a local ski shop they will tell you what size board you should get. It also tells you on the board itself(on the wrapper).
