I have a 1999 Jeep Cherokee, 2 door, 4.0L. I want to get new speakers for it, but the bestbuy website says my speakers are 5.25", while the Crutchfield and CircuitCity websites say they are 6.5". I can't really tell by looking at them what their size is, so does any one know?

  1. 6.5,theyll fit prolly,if not just take em back make sure you have the reciept or you wont get your money back.

    good luck!

  2. The 1999 Jeep Cherokee had 5.25",

the 1999 Grand Cherokee had 6.5"

make sure you know which vehicle you have first.

Some of the higher end trim vehicles had a factory installed amplifier and so the front door speakers may be playing subwoofer.

If you do have a factory amplified sound system with the door speakers playing bass, you should NOT put in aftermarket speakers (they will make a cracking sound at volume mid to high).  Aftermarket speakers play at full range while your factory amplifier will be sending out a subwoofer signal (not good mix)

Take you vehicle to a professional sound guy or replace with factory speakers if yours are damaged.

  3. if it is a cherokee they are 5.25 all the way around and if it is a GRAND cherokee they are 6.5, thats why there is some confusion for you

  4. go to Crutchfield.com and put in your vehicles year and stuff, make sureto choose best fit, oem, it will tell ya.

  5. should be 6.5  just buy a pair if they dont fit then exchange them .
