  1. it's easier to learn on a longer board,  like a 7 foot .i would suggest buying a used board to start because boards are too expensive right now and it will be ruined before you know what your doing. buy a used board that has no open dings  on it , if it has damge to it ,ask the surfshop where your buying it from to repair the dings before you but it. you dont want it getting waterlogged and heavy

  2. Stretch boards are really really good, and there located in Santa Cruz. Stop by there, and talk to one of boys who work there, and tell them your situation, and they'll help you out completely, their cool, so no worrys.

  3. WOW..hard to judge...but heres my input..i have a cool little surboard, about 5'6" swallow tail... the board is all about you!!

I would suggest a 6'0" or maybe an inch bigger...Remember the Width of the board helps stabalization and the thickness helps helps the floating the tail helps th speed and the turning of the board, and so do the rails!  its too hard too guess online of what kinda surfboard you should get...ut ask a local surfshop and should get you a good board!

    ps. boards are EXPENSIVE!!

  4. Get yourself a longboard - at least 9'. They're the easiest to learn on and are popular in Santa Cruz...

Once you learn then you'll have more knowledge to help you make a better decision about what kind of board you want.

Here's a great little article I found on this blog called 'Learn How to Surf in One day':

    Good luck and have fun!!
