  1. Fish tanks make 'ok' living areas, if you are persistant with cleaning. And I mean, really pedantic about it. And if you have to have a glass tank, do not use a glass lid. Replace it with a wire/mesh lid either bought or custom made. To help a little with the air flow.

Hamster cages aren't that expensive, though, and would probably save you money and time in the long run. They'd also help with providing a stimulating environment for your pets. (Ie: Its hard to put hamocks and stuff in a glass tank.)

I've never owned hamsters, but as with most rodents, I'd say pairs (same s*x) is safer and better for their health.

  2. You shouldn't have the hamster live in a tank. They CAN live alone, but it might get lonely. In pairs, they would have to be the same s*x.

  3. Actually you shouldnt keep rodents in aquariums. Their urine emits amonia which will cause respitory disease and kill them. As far as 1 or 2? Rodents are not solitary animals and prefer the company of others.  I have personally never had a probem with fighting as long as properly introduced same sexs can live happily together. Also the more toys you provide them with the less likly they are to fight. Plenty of space and stimulation should keep 2 or more plenty happy. just make sure you know how to s*x them so you dont end up with a ton of them lol.

  4. i agree you better can put them in a cage instead of a tank and clean the cage with dishwashcleaner every week cause their pee will stick on the bottom. Also i had Syrrian hamsters and they fought all the time till they bleeded so i separated them. My hamsters were 2 sisters who always had been together and still they fought when they grew up. I heard with dwarf hamsters it is a bit different and they tend to fight less than gold or syrrian hamsters but if was you i would keep a close eye on them if you decide to put 2 together in case they might hurt eachother.

  5. Well for 3-5 a 5 gallon tank. More than that, 10-20.

They get along better if they grew up together. And normally fight if they did'nt.

  6. well i would say a 20 gallon or maybe more a russian  dwarf hammie should live in the same s*x pairs and should be bought at the same time from the same litter unless u want to breed them and a 20 gallon tank should be big enough for 2 hammies hope this helped and good luck with ypur hammies =)
