What sizes in converse?

i bought some low-top converse yesterday and when i got home i tried them on and they where too big. I'm a size 4 or 5 and i bought a 4 and it was too big for my feet. my friend says that converse sizes are different than the regular sizes. what is the difference and what size should i get? im going to exchange them tomorrow.

Im usually size 5 (womens) and i bought converse size 3 and it fit perfect. try a 3
