I am, 6'2" 215lbs (188 cm, 97.5kg). I am a very aggressive, and will be spending my time on advanced slopes and some bowls (out west USA). I will be on both groomed and ungroomed tracks. I am not the wealthiest of persons, so a pair that would last more than a season would be better, and I have no problem using last years' equipment (new). Thanks for any help!

  1. i am loving my k2 public enemy skis they are twin tips and they rock lots of pop, wide enough for power, alittle stiff on mogules but you get used to it

it is really a park ski but it is amazing and will last

  2. Many areas have demo days for equipment, also rent some of the high performance skiis at local shops.  After you decide what you think you would like, start your search among the equipment suppliers.

The way a ski performs is as much a function of how it is tuned, as to the model or brand.

I attended a demo days 2 years ago, I used one pair of skiis, another instructor who skiis the same as I do and had the same model and size ski hated the pair, which I thoroughly enjoyed.  We swapped pairs for a run, what a difference the tune makes.  I also hated the second pair, while he began to enjoy the pair I had started with.

My pair were the personal pair of the rep, the other pair was from the shop.

Learn how you want your pair to ski.  Enjoy.   Many times the ski rep will sell his personal pair the next season at a very good price.  A rep will ski a great deal, but not abusive on his equipment.

          Good turns.  Jim

  3. I'm 6'3 & 210, and have enjoyed the K2 Apache Outlaw for the last season and a half.  It's reasonably wide (84 mm) and can handle powder (not over 1' of Sierra Cement) as well as turns acceptably on firm (really have to tip over to get on edge).  Soft enough for bumps, all around decent ski.

  4. Volkl make great, high quaility skis.  I would reccomend the volkl karmas.  The are and all mountain ski.  They are wide enough to handle some powder, strong enough to blast through crud, and can carve groomers.  Also twin tips if you want to dable in the park.
