  1. Judging by the World Cup, the most important skill a player can have is the ability to keep calm and cool under pressure. You can have the best team in the world, but if they crack in a high pressure situation a team who is more focused can upset them. Also, the ability to fight back when your team is losing is very important. Rugby is a very skillfull game, but it has become obvious that one of the most deciding factors is a player's or team's mental ability on the day. :)

  2. Brett Farve the Quater Back for the Green Bay Packers in the american NFL called it chemistry the ability to bond and get along with the team. That is the single most important aspect of any team sport playing to a plan and having the ability to implement (the plan) and augment the situation to control the direction of play. It steams from leadeship and disipline. It isn't just the captians responsibility to ensure moral is high it is up to each individual to. Intelligence will overcome instinct 9 times out of ten if it equally compatable will ability that's why the aussies beat us they aren't better than us as  amatter of fact they are probably worse players they just make smarter choices. What they (the Powers that be) need to do in the rugby world is look at the melbourne storm (NRL) they choose physical ability first then mold the player into the right mentality

  3. Three things.

    1: Vision

2: The ability to read the game.

3: The Nous to change a game.

No matter what position you play in, traits a good captain should have, sadly lacking Sunday morning.

  4. Rugby is such a complete sport that it is impossible to identify its most important skill. There are some less important though, but they are less important just because another member of your team can do it, like kicking.

  5. If a rugby player could have every skill perfect, what would they be?

Depending on what his position would be...

One of the reason I love the game is you can have all the skill in the world, but if you don't use the right skills that is needed to do your part for the team, then your team cannot achieve the result they want.

Every member in the team has a part in which they need to perform, both offence and defence.

Yes, some players do stand out and there are those that don't. But you will never hear any of them ever say " we won, because of me."

What skill would you deem most important in a Rugby player? To known your position well and to know how to be part of a team.

  6. Not willing to lose!.

  7. a level head and experience.

  8. The 5S's!
