Hi, Im trying to fill out a resume for my mom but we can't think of what skills you would need for a in home caregiver.

  1. I would list her personality strengths. Her ability to deal with people. You need patience, hopefully she has lots of it. It's just dealing respectfully with the handicapped. List the experiences she has had with disabled people. Here that's what they look for. Also don't be surprised when they run a background check. I had to go through one, and I was caring for my own sister. lol


  2. it depends on what she wants to do exactly their is homemakers which trust me being a mom she already has they also use cna's people for respite care their are different fields in this field so to speak no matter which she does there are 4 big things everyone needs 1 patience 2 heart 3 compassion 4 thick skin because there are some that on some days can be mean even if they don't mean to she also should know her limits on what kind of clients she can handle for example cancer or kids or Alzheimer's some can handle alzheimer's patients or adult cancer  patients but not kids with cancer we all have our limits and there will be those who will make her want to cry but you must save the tears until you get home and tell her do not buy in to the don't get attached because in this line of work you can not help but get attached to your clients.
