Question:

What skimboard should i buy?

I am thinking about buying a skimboard for the first time but i want it to the best one for a beginner and for someone who weights about 165 and i am willing to spend $200 max........ i hear the zap wedge large is good but i read somewhere online that the its better for the 140 weight class.... any help will be greatly appreciated

  1. i was in florida on vacation, and spent like 30-40 bucks on a "skim lizard."  It worked pretty good for my purposes.  i guess if i lived near some better beaches i would buy a better one, but in reality you are an idiot if you're going to spend that much.  It would be so easy to just make one.  go to silverfishlongboarding.com and look up ways to press plywood.  all you need is maybe 3plys of maple, because it has the whole ground to support it.  the nose only has to go up about an inch tops.  such a slight curve could be accomplished with some epoxy, a table, and some weights.


  2. The ZAP wedge large is probably your best bet. I once knew a guy at my beach who was probably about 60 maybe and he had the wedge large im sure he was about your weight and it worked fine. I, personally, have the zap bat and pro medium, but im a teenage girl...Hope I helped.
