I've had a cheap, extremely wide skim board and I'm lookin for a better quality board. Any tips on the style to get? Width, length, wax or grip? Thanks!

  1. It depends on how much money you have to spend. Victoria makes some good entry level boards such as the "foamie" which are the probably the best value if you aren't a professional skimboarder. This is a very light board that will help get you farther out across deeper water in order to start catching some good waves. They go for around $150. If you have the money then i would suggest using the Victoria "ultra" which is a very good all around board, but retails for about $250. For now just stick to the wax. When you develop your skills a little further you can always strip the wax off and add grips for around $70, but they aren't necessary.

  2. If you are serious about skim Boarding, you should get an Exile Board.  try and get a carbonfiber board.  They will last a long time. try www.skimshop.com

  3. just the best!
