Question:

What small pet should I maintain?

I'm interested in getting a small pet, whether it be a fish or reptile. I've had betta fish in the past and they're getting old, but perhaps a crown-tail betta would be more interesting? Are there any reptiles or small, fuzzy animals that are relatively low maintenance and fun? I was thinking about getting a decorative fish bowl or tank if I get a fish. Other than that, I need some more ideas.

  1. Rats are GREAT!!! I have four now. They are tons of fun and love being around people. They don't cost much to maintain. The biggest cost is the cage as you need to make sure it is big enough for them. Also, if you get a female, you can get another later on and don't have to worry about them fighting. They will sit on your shoulder and you can go anywhere without worrying about them jumping off. They seem creepy to a lot of people but when any such people come to my house, I take my friendliest rat and plop them on their shoulder and within a few minutes they are won over. Even my aunt who doesn't even like rabbits likes my big brown rat Eve. They are just great! They are always happy to see you and ready to come out of their cage and play. They are prone to respiratory problems so please do not use pine or cedar shavings. Care fresh and aspen are good alternatives.

Have fun with whatever pet you choose, but remember, you will have more fun if you choose a rat.(or two)

  2. how about python?

i dont know about low maintenace but they could be fun.

maybe a ferret, they're cute and they seem really fun.

a rat? you can train them, and they are fun cuz i had some.

umm maybe some really bright colored fish.

    a green treefrog?

  3. What about a small rabbit?

They are easily taken care of and most can be litter box trained. They are curious animals and love to play with just about anything. Seriously they are happy with a cardboard box, phone books, a small metal dish that they can throw around and even some small cat toys. Or even a basket. You don't even have to buy them toys. Plus they are fluffy and cute!

  4. if your looking for a small entertaining pet why not try a dwarf hamster? theyre really cute and have alot of energy. plus if you take the time to hold them and tame them you can play with them unlike a fish. theyre really small too.
