My boyfriend and I are thinking of moving out west. We don't want to live in a large city anymore but want to be close enough for work. What towns would you suggest I take a look at?

  1. It really depends on what you do. Different cities need differant people. and there aren't that many choices when you talk about big cities.

  2. coquitlam is a great city and it is close to vancouver.

  3. You won't find a real close town anywhere near Vancouver.  Each suburb is pretty big and just getting bigger.  Maybe something outside of Kelowna or Victoria?

  4. BC only has one large city, and that's Vancouver and its suburbs(Coquitlam,Surrey, Langley, Richmond, Burnaby, Maple Ridge) which pretty much all run together, and the commute from those suburbs into downtown can be awful. If you can find work in a suburb and avoid going into downtown that'd be good. If you want a smaller sort of place but still a city, consider some of the smaller places around Vancouver such as Abbotsford or Chilliwack. Look at Victoria or Nanaimo or the interior of BC--Kelowna or Kamloops. What kind of work you do might determine where you want to live.

  5. I would look at some of the interior towns, much more affordable (except for Kelowna), better lifestyle, lots of work. If you're used to the big city, Vancouver is your only real option, but if you want a true 4 season lifestyle and affordability, check out places like Kamloops or Prince George in the interior, or Nanaimo and Courtney on the island. Depending on your line of work, you might be able to get work in Vancouver and telecommute from home, or just go there once or twice a month.

  6. north burnaby is a really nice residential area and its central.  its a great area for commuting to work, and its safe and quiet.  they have a few really nice apartment buildings now but its mostly homes, and be prepared to pay a pretty penny.  umm i have to say its the nicest area because its so close to the downtown clore like less than 25 min skytrain or bus and yet its so peacefull.

  7. Steveston village in Richmond has a small-town feel to it, yet is part of the city of Richmond where you could go to work.
